Services

From requirement to working result.

ALIA Labs takes on defined technical and operational problems for companies, institutions, integrators and project teams worldwide. Engagements may involve software, electronics, machinery, manufacturing, research, security or several disciplines at once.

Engineering assessments start at $7,500. Software and automation builds typically start at $25,000. Physical systems are scoped individually. Remote by default. On-site where the work requires it.

The work in four families

Build

We design and construct the software that does not exist yet, from custom platforms and automation through integration and applied machine learning.

01Custom Engineering & Development 02Process Automation 03Systems Integration 04Data & Applied AI

Make

From embedded electronics and machinery to manufacturable products and bespoke physical technology, ALIA Labs engineers systems across hardware and software.

Analyze

Before a large budget depends on an assumption, we audit what you already run, test the assumption and model the expensive decisions.

08Audits & Due Diligence 09Research & Feasibility 10Optimization 11Security & Assurance

Execute

We carry work across the finish line, whether that means a paid pilot, a production launch, a technical package for a tender or a project that has already gone wrong.

01

Custom Engineering & Development

This service is for organizations that know the outcome required and have reason to believe existing products cannot satisfy it adequately.

The work starts from a written requirement and ends with a system running in your environment. Scope, milestones and acceptance criteria are agreed before the build begins, and the hardest part of the problem is attacked first.

Services

  • Custom software development
  • Internal operational systems
  • Technical platforms
  • Specialized applications
  • Algorithms
  • Optimization systems
  • Data systems
  • APIs
  • System extensions
  • Prototypes
  • Technical proof-of-concepts

02

Process Automation

This work is aimed at expensive processes that are held together by manual effort and duplicate entry.

The target is measurable: fewer hours of labor, fewer handoffs, shorter delays, fewer mistakes, less duplicate entry. Where judgment is genuinely required, the system routes the case to a person. Everywhere else, it does not.

Services

Workflow analysis Document automation Approval systems Data synchronization Operational automation Back-office automation Exception handling Human-in-the-loop systems Task orchestration Reporting automation

03

Systems Integration

Integration engagements are for organizations that already own the necessary systems but cannot make them work together properly.

Software you already paid for should exchange data without a person retyping it. We build the connections, document them, and make them stable enough that nobody has to think about them.

Services

  • API integration
  • Legacy integration
  • ERP integrations
  • Accounting integrations
  • Regulatory interfaces
  • Data synchronization
  • Identity systems
  • Migration
  • Middleware
  • Hardware/software interfaces
  • Custom connectors

04

Data & Applied AI

The requirement decides the method.

Deployment favors private and local infrastructure where data cannot leave the organization. Every model that ships, ships with evaluation.

Some projects benefit substantially from machine learning. Others are better solved with conventional software, optimization or process redesign. We choose based on the requirement.

Services

Private/local model deployment Model integration Vision systems Retrieval Classification Document processing Language systems Inference infrastructure Evaluation and reliability Structured extraction AI-assisted workflows

05

Product & Industrial Engineering

These engagements cover requirements that end in a device, an instrument or a running machine rather than in software alone.

ALIA Labs engineers the architecture, the electronics, the firmware and the operational software as one system, because on a physical product they fail as one system. The electrical design, the control logic and the code that supervises it are developed against the same specification.

Where regulated engineering disciplines are required, ALIA Labs works with appropriately qualified engineering, laboratory, manufacturing and contracting partners.

Services

Embedded systems Firmware PCB and electronics design Sensors and instrumentation IoT devices Robotics Controls and automation architecture Edge computing Industrial equipment Custom machinery Enclosures and mechanisms Process monitoring Hardware/software integration Operational software Technical-economic modeling

06

Manufacturing & Supplier Engineering

A design is not finished until it can be made twice.

This is the engineering between a working prototype and a part that arrives correct, repeatedly, from someone else’s factory.

The work is delivered as documentation a buyer or a factory can act on: a bill of materials with justified selections, drawings and tolerances, an RFQ package, a technical comparison of the responses, and a recommendation with the reasoning shown.

ALIA Labs is paid for engineering judgment, not for finding a supplier. We do not take a margin on parts, and we do not manufacture a custom solution when an existing component solves the requirement better.

Services

  • Design for manufacturability
  • Bill of materials development
  • Component selection and qualification
  • Substitute-component research
  • Manufacturing-route analysis
  • Manufacturing documentation
  • Technical RFQ preparation
  • Supplier identification and technical review
  • Vendor comparison
  • International supplier engineering
  • Prototype-to-production transition
  • Small production runs
  • Certification planning
  • Incoming inspection and part validation
  • Build-vs-buy analysis

07

Bespoke & Luxury Technology

A small category of physical work is judged on how it looks and how it feels as much as on whether it functions.

These are one-off and limited-edition objects where the engineering is not allowed to show: the mechanism has to be silent, the tolerances visible, the finish correct, and the electronics invisible inside something a person will stand in front of. The same disciplines as 05 and 06 apply, held to a tighter standard of execution.

Commissions of this kind are scoped individually and usually begin with a paid design study before any material is cut.

Services

  • Kinetic sculpture and mechanical art
  • Architectural and experiential installations
  • Interactive exhibits
  • High-end smart objects and furniture
  • Bespoke electronics
  • Architectural and sculptural lighting
  • Unusual displays and interfaces
  • Custom audio
  • Limited-edition electronics

  • Marine and automotive commissions
  • One-off executive commissions

08

Technical Audits & Due Diligence

The smallest bounded engagement we offer.

An audit is a bounded, independent read of a system you already own, or one you are about to pay for.

It is deliberately the smallest way to start working with ALIA Labs. You get a written assessment of what is actually there: what is sound, what will not survive the next year, what it would cost to fix, and which of those things matter. No engagement has to follow it.

Audits are frequently commissioned by the party writing the check rather than the party being reviewed, and the report is written to be read by both.

Services

  • Architecture review
  • Codebase audit
  • Infrastructure audit
  • AI readiness assessment
  • Security architecture review
  • Performance audit
  • Cost and cloud-spend analysis
  • Hardware and product design review
  • Technology due diligence
  • Vendor and product evaluation
  • Benchmarking
  • Reverse engineering

09

Research & Feasibility

A research engagement is a structured investigation with a defined question, a deadline and a written answer. It is paid work, scoped like any other engagement.

The deliverable states what works, what does not, what it costs and what to do next, with the evidence attached.

“Before we spend $500,000 on this, tell us whether the approach actually works.”
A typical question this engagement is designed to answer.

Services

  • Feasibility studies
  • Technical investigations
  • Technology landscape research
  • Supplier landscape analysis
  • Failure and root-cause investigation
  • Commercial feasibility
  • Technology comparison
  • Manufacturing feasibility
  • Product feasibility
  • Prototype planning
  • Proof-of-concept studies
  • Regulatory technical research

10

Optimization & Decision Systems

Optimization work is for operations where the decisions are the expensive part.

These are mathematical problems with operational consequences. We model the constraints, compute the answers, and put them in front of the people who act on them.

  • Which jobs should run on which machines?
  • How should inventory be distributed across locations?
  • How do we load equipment under weight and priority constraints?
  • What operating schedule minimizes cost without violating service requirements?

Services

Scheduling Routing Packing Allocation Capacity planning Simulation Resource optimization Constrained planning Operational decision systems Mathematical optimization

11

Cybersecurity & Technical Assurance

ALIA Labs treats security as an engineering property of the system rather than a document about it.

ALIA Labs does not sell certifications and does not guarantee compliance outcomes. It builds and reviews the technical controls that make a system defensible, and the evidence systems that make it auditable.

Services

  • Secure architecture
  • Software-security review
  • Infrastructure review
  • Evidence systems
  • Auditability
  • Security automation
  • Technical controls
  • Secure development
  • Incident-related engineering
  • Security tooling integration

12

Prototype & Pilot Delivery

Prove the difficult part first.

Most technical risk concentrates in one or two hard questions. A small paid build answers them before a large budget depends on the answer.

Services

  • Rapid prototypes
  • Paid pilots
  • Test deployments
  • Engineering prototypes
  • Experimental hardware
  • AI proof-of-concepts
  • Limited-production systems
  • Technical demonstrations
  • Acceptance testing
  • Pre-production validation

13

Productionization & Launch

The part where most projects quietly stall.

A system that works once, on one machine, in front of the person who built it, is not finished. This service closes that gap.

The work takes something already demonstrated and makes it survivable: deployed properly, monitored, documented, handed to the people who will run it, and capable of the load it will actually see. It is frequently the last engagement on a project and the one that determines whether any of the earlier ones mattered.

Services

Productionization Deployment and release engineering Validation and test coverage Load and scale preparation Monitoring and observability Operational documentation Manufacturing handoff Commissioning Certification preparation Team handover and training

14

Proposal & Prototype Engineering

ALIA Labs works with primes, integrators and buyers who need a credible technical package, or who need a subcontractor to build one module inside a larger program.

ALIA Labs can respond to commercial and government solicitations directly or serve as a technical subcontractor under a prime.

We do not merely write the proposal. We engineer what is being proposed, which is why the technical volume survives review.

Services

Technical response development Statements of work SBIR/STTR and government solicitations Industrial and commercial tenders Subcontract engineering OEM modules White-label technology Prototype requirements Proof-of-concept competitions Corporate innovation programs Systems integration packages

15

Technical Project Rescue

Already started. Not working.

ALIA Labs can enter after a project has already become difficult.

The first deliverable is an honest account of the state of the system. The second is a plan with a defined end. Both are written to get the project to something that runs, and to keep it there.

Work

  • Failing software projects
  • Integrations that never stabilized
  • Performance problems
  • Abandoned prototypes
  • Stalled hardware programs
  • Prototypes that cannot be manufactured
  • Failed AI deployments
  • Scaling failures
  • Difficult migrations
  • Systems nobody understands anymore
  • Vendor replacement
  • Architecture recovery

This could be the fastest way to find out whether your project can be saved.

We will tell you no

Not every problem should become a project.

Sometimes an existing product already solves it. Sometimes the economics do not justify the build. Sometimes the critical assumption fails under testing. Finding that out early is part of the work. We would rather end an engagement with a correct no than build an expensive yes that should never have existed.

Start

Tell us what has to work.

Describe the requirement in plain language. An engineer reads it and replies with questions or a proposed route. There is no sales sequence.
