Capabilities

Engineering across boundaries.

Some problems are software problems. Others become software problems only after the underlying operation is understood.

01Capability

Software Engineering

Most engagements end in software. The result is a system built around a defined operating requirement, documented and handed over.

We design for the people who will run the system after we leave. The deliverable includes the architecture record, the deployment procedure and the handover, in addition to the code.

Distributed systems Backend systems Internal platforms Workflow software APIs Data-intensive applications Specialized enterprise software Web applications where appropriate

02Capability

AI & Machine Learning

We use machine learning when it improves the system. We do not add it where deterministic software is the better engineering choice.

Where a model does belong, we build what makes it dependable in production: evaluation, fallback behavior, and deployment that keeps data where it is required to stay.

Model integration Inference systems Retrieval Classification Optimization Vision Language processing Agentic workflows where technically justified Evaluation and reliability Local and private model deployment

03Capability

Automation

Automation is only useful when it survives contact with the real process.

We map the process first, including its exceptions. Then we automate the parts where a machine is reliably better, and keep a person in the loop where judgment matters. The buyer gets fewer manual steps and a documented account of which steps remain manual, and why.

04Capability

Optimization

Many operational problems are optimization problems in disguise. There are too many constraints, too few resources, and a plan built by hand.

We formulate the constraints explicitly, then build decision systems that produce plans a person can inspect and override. The result is measured in the operation (hours recovered, capacity found, waste removed), not in the software.

05Capability

Systems Integration

Most organizations already own the systems they need. The problem is that those systems do not exchange data correctly.

We work against existing APIs where they exist, and against file drops, databases and legacy interfaces where they do not. Every interface we build is documented so it outlives the project.

06Capability

Infrastructure & High-Performance Computing

When the workload is the hard part, the infrastructure is the product. We design, build and operate compute for demanding workloads, and we work below the framework layer when the existing tooling is not sufficient.

ALIA Labs develops and operates its own GPU inference runtime. It exists because the team needed capability that no framework provided, and it demonstrates that the team can work at the systems level when a project requires it.

07Capability

Product / Industrial Engineering

Physical projects may require mechanical, electrical, civil, materials or other licensed specialists. ALIA Labs can structure the system, develop the electronics, firmware, controls and software, carry the design to something manufacturable, and assemble the appropriate specialist team.

We take responsibility for the system-level design and the software. Licensed disciplines are engaged where the work requires them.

08Capability

Cybersecurity

Security work here is engineering work. We review architectures, close specific technical gaps, and build the systems that produce evidence when an auditor asks for it.

We do not certify compliance. We build and verify technical controls, and we document what was verified.

09Capability

Research & Technical Investigation

This is where a company goes when it does not yet know the solution.

Before capital is committed to a build, it is usually cheaper to spend a bounded amount finding out whether the build is the right move at all. The output is a document that states what works, what it costs, and what to do next, with the evidence attached.

10Next step

Bring us the requirement.

A problem does not need to fit one of these nine categories to be worth sending. Describe the operation, the constraint, and what a better outcome looks like. We respond with an engineering view of what we would build, what we would not build, and why.
